‘Dog Days of Winter’ day 75 of ‘75 Days of Art’ / The last photograph in this 75-day journey brings us back to Greenland’s Arctic. After photographing these huskies playing on the sea ice for some time, I started searching for compositions that showed their invaluable role within Inuit communities. I finally landed on this scene of a team at rest beneath the looming bow of a hunter’s kayak. While not as fast as their racing counterparts, sled dogs like these are meant to be hardy and resilient, like little polar bears. Their alliance with people is what allows both dogs and humans to survive in one of the harshest climates on Earth.

The amount of prep work, timing, and failure behind each of these 75 art pieces has reminded me that there are far too many barriers in the world of photography. It has taken me the better part of two decades to break them— and now I want to do the same for you.
