There was a weekend that had the Monday off as well because of a special Holiday in New Zealand. We had planned to go to Christchurch, by bus and fly back late Monday to Wellington.

The ferry ride from Wellington to Picton was beautiful. We left the Queen's Wharf and reached Waitohi Wharf, Picton. Picton is a town on the north coast of the South Island, in New Zealand. We had a short stopover in Picton before continuing our journey south.

The Bus that we took was also in the ferry. We had curry rice for lunch, but is was not similar to the curry we had in Malaysia. I requested a double scoop of rice.

Picton is the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds, which is a network of waterways that covers 1,500 square kilometers. The area is known for its abundant wildlife, including dolphins, penguins, and seals. Visitors can take boat tours to see the sights, or go kayaking or fishing.

The bus ride from Wellington to Christchurch was quite scenic. The hills and forests on both sides of the road were a sight to see. Tuamarina was a beautiful town, and I'm glad we stopped there for a while.

The land in New Zealand is incredibly lush and green, and it was a treat to see sheep and cattle grazing in the fields as we drove by. It's amazing to think that such a small country has such a diverse range of landscapes, from the mountains to the sea. Christchurch is a beautiful city, and I'm so glad I had the chance to visit it.

New Zealanders have always been a proud and independent people. Even in the days when the whole world was at war, they believed that their country could survive on meat and mutton for six months without any imports. This self-sufficiency is one of the things that makes New Zealand such a special place.

At one point, we stopped to see the sea lions play by the beach, some 10 to 15 of them. It was so amazing to see the sea lions playing by the beach! I had never seen anything like it before. They were so big and so playful. I could have watched them all day.

In New Zealand, I was able to visit a number of different farms and see how they operated. I was impressed by the way that they had organized their operations to ensure food security. They had clearly understood the concept of food security and had taken steps to ensure that their farm would be able to provide for their community in the event of a crisis.

The small town we stopped at was picturesque and charming. The streets were lined with quaint shops and cafes, and the flowers blooming everywhere added to the springtime feeling in the air. It was a welcome respite after the long drive from Wellington, and it was nice to stretch our legs and explore a bit before continuing on to Christchurch.

Christchurch is known for its old architecture, and the churches are a big part of that. The buildings are beautiful and unique, and they really add to the city's character. I'm not religious myself, but I can appreciate the beauty of these buildings.

The two souvenir shops near the iconic church were manned by a Japanese couple. I asked what prompted them to be in New Zealand. The couple said that they had always wanted to visit New Zealand, and Christchurch was the perfect place to start their trip. They said that they loved the city and its people so much that they decided to make it their home. They Migrated to New Zealand.

Sakura trees are a common sight in New Zealand, and they are a beautiful sight. They are a symbol of new life and hope, and they remind us that even in the darkest of times, there is always light.

That was in 1979. Twenty years later in 1999 I went to New Zealand again. I had to opportunity to be in The same place and not much had changed. That was good.
