Back in the day, I was blessed enough to Produce original Hip-Hop instrumentals for some amazing Emcees. I wish for life to allow me to do it again some day soon. Happy 50 years, Hip-Hop. The culture. The art. The 5 elements. The poetry that opened our minds and the music and dance and innovation of turntablism that moved us, reminded us that there's a war going on outside, each one teach one, to check ourselves before we wreck ourselves, and that we will learn. If you ask me, it gave me more of a real education than the school system ever did (real hip-hop, not the corporate funded bad influence manufacturered to be the intellectual equivalent of crack). Real Hip-Hop pointed out that while cash rules everything around me, I need to peep at the shape of the streets and to stay awake to the ways of the world 'cause shit is deep! Because of Hip-Hop, a lot of our 3rd eyes saw it coming before it happened. I used to love H.E.R. and I still do. It was an honor to get to know her, learn from her, and I hope we get to kick it again soon. Happy 50th, hip-hop, you still got it going on.
