The Pfaff Sewing Machine

How i got to enrol in the most prestigious school mckk

From the day a boy is born, the father plays a crucial role in shaping his life, instilling the foundations of his character development. Fathers, though often unsung heroes, significantly influence their sons’ lives in various ways, deserving respect and recognition. Fathers usually act as examples, mentors, and heroes, showing strength in adversity and guiding their sons morally. Despite their importance, their contribution often goes unnoticed. Interestingly, part of the undivided influence comes from their mistakes, providing valuable learning opportunities. As the sons mature, they begin to understand and appreciate their fathers' sacrifices, commitments to their happiness, and love for them. Despite all this, we often forget to express gratitude until it's too late. Ultimately, a father’s love may be one of the most genuine forms of love. It's time we recognize their efforts, express our gratitude, and openly praise them as the real heroes. So, here's to you, Dad - our guide, mentor, friend, hero. We are fortunate to have you. Thank you for everything - the teachings, sacrifices, and your unconditional love. You're truly the hero in every son's story.

The Old Pfaff Sewing Machine

Ramli need cash to send his son to MCKK.

As he looked around abruptly, he saw it - the old Pfaff machine that he loved most dearly. It was a German-made, regarded as the very top of its kind. To him, the Pfaff seemed to radiate an inviting glow. Moved by an intense desire to restore its former glory, he moved swiftly towards the Pfaff sewing machine. He grasped the lubricant and began the methodical process of cleaning. He worked tirelessly until the machine shone so resplendently, it was absolutely the most pleasing sight for him.

He needed a potential buyer, so he went over to the neighbouring Dhobi shop, where he believed he could convince Pak Haji Dahan to invest in this remarkable machine for his daughter, Wati. Pak Haji was a single father, after experiencing a terrible divorce. Ramli added extra assurance to his offer, promising that if need be, he would buy back at the same price he sold after two years.

Maybe Pak Haji knew of the severe need Ramli was in, that he needed the money badly to send his son, Awalludin, to the prestigious MCKK. Regardless, Pak Haji agreed kindly to buy the second-hand sewing machine, which was a tremendous relief for Ramli.

It was enough money for Ramli to hire a taxi for a two-day trip to Kuala Kangsar, accompanied by all his children as they sent off Awalludin to the 'crème de la crème' school. A place that represented hope for the Malay people, and where he wholeheartedly hoped his son would start a fresh chapter in his life.

The Big School and East Wing Years

After the registration process at the office building, they were escorted to the East Wing and the car was parked beneath a gigantic tree nearby. Within the field in full sight, boys were commonly seen playing rugby. Although Ramli cautioned Awalludin to "stay away from that game," his words didn't resonate as Awalludin was lost in thought about everything else but that.

As the parents left, Awalludin was quickly greeted by senior form four that came in 1968 for their form one, Rehman, Wank, and Azhar. Perhaps sensing a challenging hours ahead for her son, Halijah offered a silent prayer as she glimpsed at Awalludin through the car mirror, hoping he would bear it all patiently.

The climax of the orientation week was a freshman concert, where Awalludin performed "Miato Kaino, So ra aa ke te." Soon, the orientation week was over, and college life began in earnest for young Awalludin. It was a happy and exciting start to a journey he was absolutely committed to taking.
