The Tampoi fruit, is an absolute delight to the taste buds. It generally looks like a mini-orange with smooth skin, remarkably similar to the appearance of a Mangosteen. Hanging from the Tampoi tree, this fruit is typically plucked from the orchard at its prime. Tampoi are also plucked in the wild.

The Tampoi tree takes about three years to fully mature and usually flowers near the year end, having a tremendous growth cycle. This fruit is seasonal and it is commonly available only between January and March.

When eaten, it tastes sweet with a hint of sourness, very similar to Mangosteen but less sour. Langsat Duku and Rambai have similar characteristics and is consided a rare fruit. Be happy to know that it is usually enjoyed by all who try it.

I sincerely hope you get a chance to taste this wonderfully unique fruit!
