The knowledge of Names and Use of All Things

The first gift of Allah to ADAM to understand the creations so that he attains wisdom

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 31, is a significant verse that discusses the creation of Adam (peace be upon him) and his unique position in the sight of Allah. The verse states:

"And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, 'Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful.'"

This verse highlights the knowledge and wisdom that Allah bestowed upon Adam, as He taught him the names of all things. It also demonstrates the superiority of Adam over the angels, as Allah commanded the angels to inform Him of the names, acknowledging Adam's knowledge and understanding.

Related verses that expand on this concept can be found in Surah Al-Baqarah itself. For example, in verse 31, Allah further states:

"They said, 'Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise.'"

This response from the angels emphasizes their recognition of their limited knowledge compared to Allah's infinite wisdom. It reinforces the idea that only Allah possesses all-encompassing knowledge, while human beings, including prophets, are recipients of knowledge from Him.

Another related verse can be found in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 33, where Allah says:

"He said, 'O Adam, inform them of their names.' And when he had informed them of their names, He said, 'Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed.'"

This verse highlights the authority and knowledge of Allah, who not only taught Adam the names but also knew the unseen aspects of the heavens and the earth. It serves as a reminder that Allah's knowledge encompasses all things, visible and hidden.

These verses collectively emphasize the unique position of Adam and the superiority of Allah's knowledge over all creation. They demonstrate the importance of seeking knowledge and recognizing that true knowledge comes from Allah, the All-Knowing.
