Title: Brief Summary of The Origins and Migration of The Kampar People to Pahang.

 

The Kampar people in Pahang, who mostly hail from the region known as "Limo Koto," have long been recognized for their widespread dispersal throughout the Pahang region. Their towns, such as Bangkinang, Salo, Kuok, Air Tiris and Rumbio, are renowned as places of origin for the Kampar people.

 

Interestingly, many of these individuals have migrated to regions such as Kuantan and Temerloh in Pahang, making the presence of Kampar quite noticeable. The local communities in both of these towns, particularly those originating from the town of Salo, are predominantly Kampar. Professor Rosli and I, who are colloquially also known to possess this Salo heritage. 

 

One notable personality from this Kampar lineage is Haji Hassan, who originally hails from Pulau Tongah, Salo. Hassan's father named Katip Nanis from Pulau Tengah, Salo. His brother Kalsom, my ancestor, was Hassan's sister and a member of the Piliang tribe. Therefore, Hassan, Kalsom, and my grandmother Zaharah and my mother Halijah and my siblings all have ties as members of the renowned Piliang or Option tribe.

 

A question arises regarding the name of Hassan's mother, which, unfortunately, is still unknown to this day. However, one undeniable fact is her affiliation with the Piliang tribe as well, which further validates the presence of this lineage in the genealogy of the Kampar people.

 

A popular figure related to this lineage through Haji Hassan is the late Sudirman Arshad, a celebrated singer known as one of the best in Asia. This connection, subtly but effectively, highlights the wide dispersion of the Kampar people and the important contributions they have made in various fields in Malaysia. U-wei, a renowned film producer, also has Salo ancestry, as does Dato Gumuri a corporate figure in Malaysia.

 

Recently, there was a family gathering where nearly a thousand attended. It was joined by Zed Zaidi, President of the Malaysian Artist Association, proving his Kampar ancestral connection.

 

In conclusion, the journey of the Kampar people, expanding from their original villages in "Limo Koto" to the migration and cultural assimilation in the broad areas of the peninsula, is testament to their dynamism. Spirit of travel of the Kampar people. 

 

Despite this evolution, the preservation of their heritage, such as the tribes of Piliang, Domo, Old Malay, Mendiliong and Pitopang emphasizes the importance they place on their origins. This journey reflects their resilience and ability to adjust, making them an integral part of the diverse social structure in Malaysia.
