The largest waterfall in South America is the renowned Iguazu Falls, or Iguaçu Falls, located on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The falls are situated within the Iguazu National Park in Argentina and the Iguaçu National Park in Brazil.
Iguazu Falls consists of a series of approximately 275 individual waterfalls, spanning a width of nearly 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles). The most famous and impressive section of the falls is called the Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo in Spanish), where a U-shaped cascade plunges dramatically into a narrow chasm. The height of the falls varies, with some reaching up to 82 meters (269 feet).
The Iguazu Falls are not only a breathtaking natural wonder but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area surrounding the falls is rich in biodiversity, with lush rainforests and diverse wildlife, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and tourists from around the world.
