Nintendo has officially announced the addition of two beloved Game Boy Advance classics to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Gamers can look forward to playing “Golden Sun” and its sequel, “Golden Sun: The Lost Age,” starting on January 17th. These titles will be available for subscribers of the higher-tier Expansion Pack.

Nintendo fans will soon be able to relive the magic of the Game Boy Advance era by adding “Golden Sun” and “Golden Sun: The Lost Age” to the Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy Advance library. These two classic RPGs will be accessible to subscribers of the Expansion Pack tier, beginning on January 17th.

A glimpse into the Golden Sun series

Originally released in 2001, “Golden Sun” garnered widespread acclaim for its stunning 32-bit visuals and innovative gameplay mechanics. The game’s cinematic camera angles during battles and its unique Psynergy system captured the hearts of gamers worldwide. 

The Psynergy system allowed players to utilize learned spells in the overworld, enabling them to solve various puzzles.

One of the standout features of the “Golden Sun” series is the summonable Djinn companions. Players can equip, mix, and match this Djinn to significantly impact a party member’s stats, offering a level of party customization akin to the iconic Materia system seen in “Final Fantasy 7.”

The addition of “Golden Sun” and its sequel enriches the ever-growing Game Boy Advance library on Nintendo Switch. Since early last year, this curated catalog has steadily expanded, offering players access to several other handheld classics. Some of the notable titles in the library include “Kuru Kuru Kururin,” “Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga,” “Fire Emblem,” and “The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.”
